2008 Artist Statement

Every artist has their interpretation on how light highlights their art. Light gives paintings depth and dimension Light and Shadow, two main elements in forming gradation, creating space. The awareness of light in paintings is essential. The difference is I create space with color; my light not only shadows, but also enhances the many layers of paint in each dripping line. Built within layers of drips, captured within light and color, creating dimension. Colored drips, which I like to call, Urban Lights. Within the Urban Light, I attempt to renew the importance of light in the aesthetics of painting.
